Cookie Party

by cupcakedaydreams

I love my little cousins. I also love baking with them.  During my most recent family cape cod weekend (ok ok – you got me.  This was totally over the summer and I just haven’t blogged about it yet), I made a batch of cookie dough (chocolate chip without the chips from King Arthur) and brought down “the works” for my cousins to mess with.

Here’s what you’ll need for “the works”:

  • Cookie Dough
  • Aprons
  • Chips (chocolate, peanut butter, toffee, etc)
  • Coconut
  • Sprinkles
  • Colored Sugar
  • Cookie Cutters
  • Colored gel icing
  • Pinwheels and umbrella and other fun toppers

I set each girlie up with their own little bowl of cookie dough and let them try all of the ingredients before adding them in to their dough.  I had to remind them a few times that the dough had raw eggs in it so they shouldn’t eat it…but I mean Come ON – who can resist a little bite of raw cookie dough?

After all the fixings were mixed in (by hand) we made our first batch of cookies with our initials then moved on to the cookie cutter portion.  I let them all run wild for a bit while I baked the cookies on my trusty cookie stone (aka pizza stone but god knows pizza has never touched this sucker). Cupcake HelperOnce baked, they returned to frost, sprinkle and adorn their creations with pinwheels and things.

Side note: I made a small side batch of just chocolate chip and toffee cookies in the unlikely event that the other batches came out horribly (or if the adults didn’t want all the extra pink sugar gel, sprinkled, sugar sugar pinwheel cookies).  It all worked out just fine..

Happy Baking!

xoxo
